St. Charles Lwanga
St. Charles Lwanga was among 22 who were martyred in Uganda , Africa from June 3, 1886 through January 17, 1887. St. Charles was burned to death after suffering terrible torture. He and his companions are the first group from 100 Catholics and Protestants who were murdered by the vicious King Mwanga. They are the first martyrs of black Africa and were canonized during the third session of the Second Vatican Council, with the entire Catholic episcopate in attendance.
